Falling Into Place

Three characters are looking for connection after a period of isolation. Sara tries to reconnect with her friends in nature. In their bedroom Noa tries on different clothes as a way to connect with themselves. Mia struggles as she enters a busy club alone and tries to become one with the crowd and music. Their universal feeling of connection is visualized as a beach by night shrouded in red light.

More about this project

‘Falling Into Place’ is an interdisciplinary collaboration between director and filmmaker Flip Kwakkel and fashion designer Zoë Zita. An equal collaboration; where one medium is not simply in service of the other, has been a core value throughout its creation.

After a period of isolation during the covid lockdowns, the first steps to connecting again felt overwhelming and awkward sometimes. But after overcoming this, the feeling of connection was stronger than ever and more conscious and profound. This feeling made quite an impact and resulted in the script for this film. The three storylines all have different types of connection, but all of them feel very familiar to us.

The film is an ode to connection and a celebration of that shared experience.
